Illinois College Launches Varsity Esports Program

Illinois College has joined the rapidly growing lists of schools supporting varsity esports.

 

The college is located in Jacksonville, IL with approximately 1,000 undergraduate students and annual tuition and fees totaling just under $30,000 per year.

Two League of Legends teams, Blue and White, will compete in the CSL and the NACE. Each team will have 5 players and a sub for a total of 12 League of Legends players led by Head Coach, Christian Matlock. An esports facility is set to open in the Student Center which will include 10 gaming PC’s and a console gaming area.

Scholarships are available for the players and the program is set to launch for the 2017-2018 season. Students can apply for the program by filling out the Interest Form on the Illinois College website.
